Selvan Govender joined PURCO SA as CEO in 2008, after senior management roles in multinationals such as Shell, BP, Henkel, Hoechst and Air Liquide.
His impact on the Consortium and its contribution to the Higher Education Sector has been significant. Under his leadership Membership has more than doubled; annual spend through PURCO SA contracts increased from R515 million to R2.57 bn; and Members’ savings and income from the Consortium has increased from R63 million to R361 million.
During his tenure he launched the PURQ academic information platform, established the PURCO SA Management Consultancy, achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, and managed the implementation of the PURCO SA Online Tender and Contract Management Systems.
