PURCO SA has many years of tender management experience, a skilled team with expertise across a wide scope of commodity, service and infrastructure projects, and systems that are ISO 9001:2015 certified.
National tenders
We identify common product and service requirements across Member Institutions and conduct collaborative national tenders.
Individual tenders
We assist individual Members to manage professional tenders that are efficient, procedurally compliant and fully auditable.
Online management
We offer virtual management of all tenders from their initiation with bid committees through to online bid submissions and evaluation.
Contract Negotiation and administration
Collaborative contracts and associated savings are fundamental indicators of the Consortium’s performance and value to higher education.
During the 2022 financial year PURCO SA managed more than 652 contracted suppliers across South Africa and Namibia.
Procurement spend
Overall procurement spend via PURCO SA contracts was R2.22 billion in 2022, from R1.89 billion in 2020-2021.
TVET Members
TVET colleges represent 35% of PURCO SA Membership, and are responsible for 60% of tenders managed during the year. After another year of consistent spend growth (16%) the sector now accounts for 25% of Member spend
Consultancy services
Our Management Consultancy Division delivers expert consulting and project management services across all disciplines.
Foundational principles
The foundational principles of the Consultancy Division are to provide a shared resource to Members that enjoys deep Higher Education expertise; offer long term sustainability; and deliver services our Members at accessible rates that are lower than commercial costs.
Available commercially
The Division also offers its services commercially to organisations outside Higher Education.

PURQ Academic information platform
PURQ is a secure, online platform that provides a centralised source of academic qualification and enrolments history, and an electronic transcripts exchange.
PURQ empowers students to access their records without the need to engage physically with their University, and leverage their qualifications for recruitment and financial benefit.
PURQ already hosts 75% of South African academic records. There is no cost for institutions to subscribe to the collaborative platform.
