Invitation to Tender
The University of the Western Cape, in collaboration with the Purchasing Consortium of Southern Africa (PURCO SA), invites interested and suitably qualified tenderers for the Waste Management Services. This will include the following services:
Collection, transporting and disposal of all categories of waste and refuse at the University of the Western Cape.
Hazardous and bio-hazardous waste generated as part of its operational activities.
Sorting waste into various categories in order to recycle all possible recyclables and to dispose of such recyclables in accordance with best practice and economical advantage.
Managing and expanding the University’s recycle initiatives and programs to instil recycling at point of origin as far as possible.
Ensuring all waste management operations comply with statutory requirements and ensuring that proper and comprehensive record keeping is undertaken.
Proposals can be submitted for individual category or all categories of waste.
Only tenderers who satisfy the following Eligibility Criteria and those set out in the Tender Notice and Invitation to Tender section of the Tender Documents should submit tenders. The tenderer must:
have at least three (3) years relevant experience of Total Waste Management ;
supply the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town with names and contact details of at least three (3) contactable sites / trade referees / referees / references from tertiary institutions and / or contracts or a similar nature and size where Waste Management services are being / have been rendered;
show that it has a minimum of 3 years’ experience with successful Waste Management Service delivery, and
provide a current and valid industry related certificate/s.

Questions from Purchasers:
Purchasers' questions about the tender will be managed online in a dedicated Q&A environment to maximise transparency and so that all purchasers are kept informed. Emailed or telephonic questions from purchasers will not be responded to.
Related transactions:
Suppliers are reminded that contracts with PURCO SA will encompass the specific products and services specified in the tender as well as all related transactions.

Only Tender Documents received before the closing date and time will be considered. No exceptions will be made for late submissions.
- Completed tender documents should be saved on to a USB memory stick.
- Place the USB and hard copy version of your tender documents in a sealed envelope endorsed with the contract name and contract number.

All payments will be processed online through our Payfast facility. No manual payments will be accepted.

No refunds and transfers

PURCO SA will not approve requests for refunds or request that your payment be transferred to another tender.

Compulsory Information Session: 11 July 2016. Information regarding the venue and time is available in the
tender document.
NB: Tender documents are to be purchased prior to the compulsory information session and must be taken with
to the compulsory information session. The University of the Western Cape requests the responsible person for
completing the tender document to be present at the Compulsory Information Session.
