Marisna Nel is a Chartered Accountant (SA) with over two decades of experience in financial leadership, governance, and risk management. Appointed as Chief Financial Officer in 2024, she provides strategic oversight of the University’s financial sustainability, budgeting, reporting, and compliance functions. Marisna has played a pivotal role in strengthening institutional governance, advancing system automation, and aligning financial strategy with the University’s academic and research goals.
Her career spans senior leadership roles within the UFS Finance Division, including Director: Finance Governance and Policies, and prior professional experience with PwC and KPMG in South Africa, the United States, and Ireland. She is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA).
