Kamal Patel is a seasoned corporate executive with over 25 years of leadership experience across multinational corporations and Southern African businesses. He brings a distinctive blend of CEO-level executive experience, management consulting expertise, and entrepreneurial insight that the Board believes is well suited to leading PURCO SA through its next chapter of growth and service delivery.

Kamal was previously Chief Executive of Juta & Company, a leading publisher in the higher education and legal information sectors, where he led a comprehensive digital transformation of the business. This experience in the higher education sector, combined with his deep understanding of information-intensive, relationship-driven organisations, is directly relevant to PURCO SA's mandate. He has also held senior executive roles at Thomson Reuters, heading Corporate Partnerships and Strategy & Operations across Africa, and has consulted at both Accenture and KPMG, leading strategy and transformation engagements across Southern African financial services clients.

Kamal previously served as a Professor of Practice at the Johannesburg Business School and a member of the Advisory Board to the Business School's Centre for Entrepreneurship. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from GIBS, a Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture from UKZN, and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from Wits. He has also completed studies in Venture Finance at the University of Oxford's Said Business School; as well as the Digital Transformation: From Strategy to Execution programme at Cambridge University's Judge Business School.
