Naeem is a passionate financial leader with an aptitude to communicate complex financial matters effectively. He is a Chartered Accountant with over thirteen years of experience in the higher education sector, currently serving as the Financial Director. He joined the University of Pretoria in 2010.

He graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2002 where he completed both his undergraduate and post graduate qualifications. To keep abreast of his professional and personal development he completed a Master’s Degree in Accounting Sciences at the University of Pretoria in 2023. Naeem's areas of specialisation include IFRS, procurement, investment management and retirement funds.

Naeem worked at Paarlmedia, a subsidiary of the Prosus group of companies between 2008 and 2010 as the Group Management Accountant after spending six years at Deloitte where he completed his articles and worked as an Audit Manager. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2006 after passing both board exams on his first attempt.

Naeem serves on the Boards of PURCO SA, TuksNovation, which is a business incubator, the University of Pretoria United States Foundation, and the University of Pretoria Foundation in the United Kingdom which has been established to source funds in the USA and UK for South African students.

Outside of work Naeem enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, reading business journals and fly-fishing.
