ALICE WATER TREATMENT WORKS AND RESERVOIR UPGRADE AND AUGMENTATION - University of Fort Hare

PURCO SA has recently completed the tender process for the Water treatment works and reservoir upgrade and augmentation at the University of Fort Hare - Alice Campus. The project is an incredible joint venture between the institution and the Raymond Mhlaba Municipality in the Amathole district, which will see an upgrade and improvement in the water treatment facility, benefiting the community of Alice which the institution is also based in.

The objectives of the University of Fort Hare are to augment the existing Alice Water Treatment Works so as to make additional water supply available to the University of Fort Hare in order to accommodate the university’s expansion programme.

PURCO SA congratulates Mpumalanga Construction Pty (Ltd), the successful service provider that was successful in the tender process.

The project consists of the following:

  • Raw Water Inlet
  • Flocculent Dosing and Mixing Systems
  • Sedimentation Basins
  • Autonomous Gravity Sand Filters
  • Chlorine Dosing Systems
  • Sludge Ponds and Effluent Recovery
  • Clear Water Pump Station
  • New Concrete Reservoir Construction
  • Remedial Works to Existing Concrete Reservoir
  • Upgrade of All Electrical components and Systems
  • Compilation of O&M Documentation
  • Provision of O&M Training
  • Provision of Testing and Laboratory Equipment

The location of the works is at the Alice Water Treatment Works, Alice Eastern Cape.
