Fantastic turnout of over 200 attendees for the first PURCO SA Ponder presentation series
PURCO SA went live for the first Ponder session on 9 June, with the POPI Act as our first topic. Our guest speaker was Adv. Talita Olivier, Director at Etude Risk Management.
With a turnout of over 200 attendees, the session was a great success.
The programme started at 9am sharp with Selvan Govender, CEO at PURCO SA introducing the session and welcoming Members and guests.
Talita Olivier followed up with her presentation of the POPI Act, which had some interesting and insightful pointers on how to use the risk management cycle to manage POPI compliance. "There is a direct link between the outcomes of risk monitoring and review activities, the effectiveness of key decision making across an organisation and the continual improvement of the risk management framework", she highlighed during her presentation.
A well supported question and answer session followed Talita's presentation where attendees had the opportunity to get answers to their questions live from Talita.
The session ended with a lucky draw and Nikile Ntsababa from the University of the Free State walked away with a R1000 Takealot voucher.

Talita Olivier: Director, Etude Risk Management
After completing her LLB and B.Com Law qualifications and being admitted as advocate, Talita completed her approval as an Approved Compliance Officer with the Financial Services Conduct Authority and the derivatives division of the JSE. After seven years of serving practices as a compliance officer and as a lecturer in regulatory risk management, Talita joined Etude Risk Management as a Director and partner. Over the past 10 years at Etude she has assisted various industries in developing, implementing and monitoring their regulatory compliance challenges.
