The supply maintenance and support of Data cabling infrastructure services at the Tshwane University of Technology

The Tshwane University of Technology, in collaboration with PURCO SA have initiated an open tender process for the supply maintenance and support of data cabling infrastructure services at the Tshwane University of Technology's various campuses which are: 

  • Pretoria West and CBD (Arts, Arcadia, Business school and etc.) campuses
  • Soshanguve, Ga- Rankuwa, Toppieshoek and other campuses
  • Distance campuses (eMalahleni, Mbombela, Polokwane) 

Tshwane University of Technology needed the following services:

  • Supply of cabling infrastructure but not limited to UTP and Fibre
  • Maintenance of the current cabling infrastructure
  • Support services to ensure connectivity and availability of the TUT’s cabling infrastructure
  • Provision of onsite cabling material for emergencies and rapid response repairs
  • Tshwane University of Technology may request additional scope from the preferred supplier.
  • The University reserves the right to increase or decrease the scope of work.

The requirements from the Tshwane University of Technology included, but were not limited to: 

  • Provide access to cabling experts and specialists performing regular assessments and provide recommendations on the cabling infrastructure, including capacity planning.
  •  Provide for quality of service. Provide tools (sniffer) and personnel to resolve cabling performance problems.
  • Keep TUT abreast of evolving technology and how it will enhance services if implemented.
  • Skills transfer to TUT staff.
  • Assist TUT in capacity planning.
  • Trace and repair of the cabling infrastructure and health status reports and preventative actions to be taken (quarterly and adhoc)
  • Assist TUT in determining data cabling standards to be the most efficient and cost effective.
  • Incident resolution process to be tied to TUT’s Service Desk.
  • Keep TUT abreast of evolving technology (quarterly workshops) which may enhance services if implemented.
  • Knowledge and skills transfer to TUT staff: o Accredited training o Formal in-house skills transfer
  • Ongoing training for the duration of contract
  • Assist TUT in determining standards of equipment to be the most efficient and cost effective.

 

The Tshwane University of Technology and PURCO SA congratulates Kubyala ICT Solutions (Pty) Ltd, Madibana IT Solutions and Cabling (Pty) Ltd and Brilliant Telecommunication (Pty) Ltd, the successful suppliers in the public tender process for a term of three (3) years, at the Tshwane University of Technology for the supply maintenance and support of data cabling infrastructure services at the Tshwane University of Technology's various campuses.
