CUT appoints new Vice-Chancellor & Principal - Prof Pamela Dube

The Central University of Technology has recently appointed Prof Pamela Dube as the new Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the institution, effective from January 2023, taking over from the current acting Vice Chancellor and Principal, Prof Alfred Ngowi. The Central University of Technology is a Member of PURCO SA, a Purchasing Consortium for Higher Education in Southern Africa. Our CEO, Mr Selvan Govender, warmly welcomes and congratulates Prof Pamela Dube on her appointment as CUT’s new Principal and Vice Chancellor. 

Dube is a seasoned leader in the South African Higher Education sector. She has led strategic engagements at different levels, having completed her MA and PhD studies in Comparative Literature and Media at the University of Siegen in Germany, supported by the German Exchange Programme, DAAD.

Her career includes higher education and research management, comparative media/communication and literature, human resources development, institutional advancement, student affairs and international relations. She is a past senior employee of the National Department of Education, an academic at the Universities of Siegen in Germany, Kathmandu University in Nepal, and the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Pietermaritzburg.

Dube has also served as a Special Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Johannesburg where she took on the leadership of the Human Resources Division. She is also a past employee of the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA) where she established an International Relations office and managed the Learning and People development unit.

Before joining the University of the Western Cape where she currently serves as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, she served as Dean of Students at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg

On behalf of the university community, I wish to thank her for taking up this offer and availing herself to lead our institution toward and beyond Vision 2030.”

Rantso added that the acting vice-chancellor and principal will continue to provide his leadership role to the university until the end of December 2022.
