Mr Sboniso Mthembu is the Procurement Manager at Mangosuthu University of Technology. He also serves as a comittee Member for our KZN Regional Committee. 

1.            What is a typical work day like?

I usually start my work day at about 07:30 with reading and clearing up my e-mail inbox. Most of my meetings start at 09:00 and I will be in back to back engagements till about 14:00. I then review submissions and approve procurement requests until late in the afternoon.  

2.            Favorite memory from growing up?

Most memories from my childhood are my favorite especially because one was carefree before the reality of adulthood kicked in. One that stands out would be my transition from primary to high school which was a former model c school.  

3.            If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?

              I would like to be scientist in my next life, the thought of conducting scientific research to solve problems fascinates me

4.            What energizes you outside of work?

              Family, I think I have the most supportive family structure. We look out for each other. My kids are still young so watching them learn and grow keeps me energized

5.            What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

              Its probably my dad, at this one point he once asked me “what is the need to do something if you are not going to do it properly?, Your work should be a reflection of yourself”

6.           What’s your guilty pleasure?

              Watching too much national geographic and animal channels
